Removable prostheses

Removable dentures at 5DENT – be good, be aesthetic, but also be cost-effective

5 reasons why you should choose our dental clinic if you need complete oral rehabilitation

When do you need a removable prosthesis?

Fixed dentures are characterised by a stable anchorage point, which can be your own tooth or several implants. The new denture is attached to these. With removable dentures, there is no such anchorage point, so we have to choose a different solution.

Compared to the older types of removable dentures, 5DENT Dental Clinic can now offer much more aesthetic, comfortable and functional dentures.

What do you consider to be the positive features of removable dentures?

A removable denture could be the ideal option for you. Learn more about its advantages:

Cost-effectiveness:

  • Low price: Removable prostheses, especially partial dentures, are less expensive than long-term implant or fixed prostheses.
  • Long-term care: Because removable dentures are easy to take out and put back in, they are easy to clean at home, reducing the need for visits to the dentist.

Personalisation:

  • Made to measure: Removable dentures are custom-made at the 5DENT dental clinic based on individual impressions, which guarantees a perfect fit and high wearing comfort.
  • Choice of colour and shape: We also customise the colour and shape of removable dentures to create a natural effect and harmonise with your existing teeth.
  •  Individual anchoring options: Choose from a wide range of anchoring mechanisms (clamp, telescope, bar, etc.) to suit your personal needs and convenience

Functionality:

  • Natural feel: removable dentures are properly fitted and fixed to ensure natural chewing and speech function
  • Freedom: Removable dentures allow you to take them out when needed – for a thorough cleaning or for other reasons
  • Easy fitting: Fitting to removable dentures is often quicker than to fixed dentures because there is the possibility of changing it if necessary.

Removable dentures are not the ideal solution for everyone, but for many patients they are the perfect solution due to their many advantages. Before making a decision, it is important to seek advice from a qualified professional to make the best decision for your denture according to your individual needs. At 5DENT Dental Clinic, we can assist you with this.

Which removable dentures are made at 5DENT?

Removable prostheses can be removed or replaced at any time (e.g. for cleaning). They can be either removable partial dentures or removable full dentures, depending on how many of your own teeth you have and their condition:

  • Partially removable dentures: This type of denture is used when you still have your own teeth but they are not strong enough for fixed crowns or bridges. The main components of a removable partial denture are the metal base plate, the plastic archwire, the dentures and the anchorage system. This type of removable denture can be anchored in any way:
    • Removable dentures with clasp attachment: In this case, the prosthesis is fixed to the patient’s own teeth with special metal clasps.
    • Telescopic fixed removable dentures: In this case, the removable dentures fit onto the telescopic crowns attached to the natural teeth.
    • Removable denture that is fixed with patents: In this case, the denture is attached to the natural teeth using patents or end caps.
    • Slide-fixed removable prosthesis: In this case, the removable prosthesis is fixed with the help of sliding splints, especially for patients with anterior teeth
  • Removable full dentures: If you have no teeth at all, we will fit you with a removable full denture. These dentures are also made of similar components, but the base plate is made of plastic and their durability is increased by a mesh or other reinforcements. reinforcements.

How can I prevent removable dentures from slipping when I wear them?

Dental implants are an excellent way to avoid the inconvenience of removable dentures. In such cases, 2-4 implants are placed per jawbone. These provide a firm, stable anchorage point to permanently secure the removable prosthesis. By implanting the tooth, the removable prosthesis is anchored so firmly that it cannot move or wobble during use.

The fixed denture does not move when chewing and speaking and thus avoids unpleasant moments.

The removable prosthesis should only be removed if the area under the prosthesis needs to be cleaned.

How are removable dentures made at 5DENT Dental Clinic?

For a removable full denture, you usually need two or three appointments with your dentist:

  • At the first appointment, our dentist will take an impression that the dental technician will use to make your denture. During the impression taking, a tooth shade guide is used to select the shade of the denture that will be incorporated into the prosthesis. If you still have teeth, their colour will be taken into account when determining the tooth colour. A few hours later, the bite is recorded.
  • About 2 days later comes the tooth sample
  • One day later, the denture is delivered and you can use it without any restrictions.

The procedure takes about 4 working days.

For removable partial dentures, the duration and steps of the treatment may vary depending on the type of anchorage. Generally, it takes about 8 working days for the denture to be fabricated. During this time you will need to visit your dentist 3-4 times.

These are the questions our patients have asked about removable dentures (FAQ)

Where are removable dentures made?

The combined prostheses are made in our clinic in Mosonmagyaróvár 5DENT , only 14 km from the Austrian border. You can find detailed information about our contact details here.

How long does it take to make a removable denture?

The whole procedure takes 4-8 days on average.

Does it hurt to make a removable prosthesis?

Removable dentures are always performed under local anaesthetic so that they do not cause you any pain. In our practice, you can have your dental treatment performed under anaesthesia or sedation. We recommend this option for longer oral surgery procedures and for patients who are afraid of dental treatment.

How should I prepare for a removable prosthesis?

You should make an appointment for a personal consultation with our specialist to discuss your treatment options. If you already have a panoramic x-ray or treatment plan from another practice, please bring it with you. Also inform us about any medication you take regularly. We need this information.

Do I need an X-ray or CT scan?

To get a complete picture of the problem, a panoramic X-ray is required, and less frequently, usually during a maxillofacial surgery consultation, we need to perform a 3D CT scan.

How much will the treatment cost?

The cost of treatment is influenced by a number of factors, including the type and complexity of the treatment. After your consultation, you will receive a detailed and written cost estimate from us, which includes a significant savings potential.

Does my health insurance cover the cost of crowns and bridges?

If you have a contract with an insurance company, you will be reimbursed for all or part of the value of your dentures.  The amount that is reimbursed depends mainly on the type of insurance you have. Your treatment plan is sent to the insurance company for approval, the insurance company approves the submitted treatment plan, the dental treatment included in the treatment plan is carried out and we prepare all the documents that need to be submitted to the insurance company at the end of the treatment.

When can I eat again after the procedure?

It depends on the type and complexity of the procedure. For some simple procedures, you can eat immediately eat as soon as the anaesthetic wears off, while for other procedures you will need to be careful and avoid certain foods. This will be explained to you in more detail during your personal consultation.

Will there be any swelling or discolouration after the procedure?

You may experience slight swelling or discolouration after certain procedures. In all cases you will be informed about what to expect and how to deal with these symptoms.

What guarantees are offered for the treatment?

The effectiveness and durability of treatments depend on many factors, including your general health and oral hygiene habits. Specific guarantees will be given during your consultation.

What should I pay attention to after handing over a removable prosthesis?

It may feel unfamiliar at first, especially if you have a removable denture for the first time. To get used to the removable denture, use it as often as possible. Speak and read aloud so that your facial muscles and tongue get used to the new denture quickly.

It is important to chew slowly at first and use both sides equally so that you can eat comfortably and safely with your teeth.

How do you care for a removable denture?

Proper oral hygiene is very important for both removable full and partial dentures. The denture should be cleaned of plaque from meals with a brush. It is advisable to use a denture cleaning tablet at least 2 times a week. For partial dentures, it is important to floss appropriately, use a good quality toothbrush, toothpaste  and mouthwash.

When should I have my removable dentures checked?

Annual dental check-ups are essential and oral hygiene treatment 1-2 times a year is also very important for the permanent teeth.
