Combined tooth replacement

Are you missing more teeth? Don’t want or can’t get implants? At 5DENT you can get a long-term solution to this problem

5 reasons why you should also choose our dental clinic

What is a combined prosthesis?

In a combined prosthesis, a removable prosthesis is attached to the framework of the crowns with a metal plate, which are cemented to the remaining teeth using fasteners to replace the missing teeth.

The crowns or bridges on the remaining teeth are the fixed part of the denture, and in addition there is a removable part that includes the missing teeth and the denture.

What are the advantages of a combined denture for you at 5DENT?

  • Excellent hybrid solution combining a fixed bridge and a removable prosthesis
  • A quick solution for replacing missing teeth
  • It holds securely, the removable part does not wobble and does not sink
  • The fastening elements are not visible
  • No healing phase as with implantation
  • Cost-effective, this solution can save you a lot of money

In which cases could a combined prosthesis be ideal for you?

Combined dentures are the ideal solution for you:

  • If your missing teeth cannot be replaced by implants for anatomical reasons
  • If the number and position of the remaining teeth do not allow a complete replacement of the missing teeth with a fixed bridge
  • If you are looking for a cheaper solution than implantation
  • If you are looking for a solution to compensate for tooth loss at the end of the tooth row

These are the parts that make up a combined prosthesis

A combined denture is a denture that consists of a part that is cemented to the remaining teeth and a removable part. You can remove the combined denture without medical assistance, which is necessary for cleaning and maintaining good oral hygiene.

  • Fixed part: The fixed part is the crown or bridge abutment that forms the fixed part of the abutment and to which the anchorage devices are attached
  • Base plate: the removable part of the prosthesis, the base plate containing the prosthesis, the denture and the anchorage devices
  • Dentures: Dentures play a role in sound production and chewing
  • Artificial gums: Artificial gums are a pink plastic that resembles the colour of natural gums.
  • Anchorage devices: These devices may be clamps, prefabricated anti-tilt devices, precision mechanical fastening devices or supports for the masticatory surface

How a combined denture is made at 5DENT

  • Personal consultation with your doctor at 5DENT
  • Digital diagnostic imaging (panoramic X-ray or 3D CT) for accurate diagnosis
  • Preparation of a customised treatment plan and cost estimate
  • Carrying out the necessary dental treatments (tooth extraction, root canal treatment)
  • Grinding the teeth to the fixed part
  • Taking impressions for the dental laboratory
  • Examination of the fixed part of the prosthesis followed by a situation impression for the removable part
  • Fabrication of the removable part in the dental laboratory on the basis of the impression
  • Sample of the test prosthesis
  • Completion of the combined denture in the dental laboratory
  • Try-in and handover of the final combined prosthesis
  • Practice the removal of the transferred denture
  • If necessary, corrections can be made to the combined prosthesis to make it comfortable, functional and aesthetically pleasing for you.

The process takes about 1.5 weeks, with some additional treatments (e.g. bite taking, tooth try-in) to ensure that the final denture fits properly.

How we can make your smile look new

What do I have to pay attention to after the handover of the combined prosthesis?

It is important to us that your combined denture is comfortable and works well in the long term, but we need your active cooperation:

  • Our dentists place great emphasis on teaching you how to use and clean your new dentures properly, and we will teach you this at the handover.
  • Good oral hygiene is essential, as tartar and plaque cause gingivitis, which in the worst case can lead to the loss of teeth and dentures
  • Proper use of dental floss, interdental brush, good quality toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash are important
  • It is still very important to go for oral hygiene treatment at least twice a year.

These are the questions our patients have asked about combined prostheses (FAQ)

Where are combined dentures made at a significant discount?

The combined dentures are made in our 5DENT dental clinic in Mosonmagyaróvár, only 14 kilometres from the Austrian border. You can find detailed information about our contact details here.

How long does it take to make a combined prosthesis?

The whole procedure takes 10-12 days on average.

Does the fabrication of a combined prosthesis hurt?

The combined prosthesis is always performed under local anaesthesia so that it does not cause any pain. In our clinic you can have your dental treatment under anaesthesia or sedation, although this is the most common option chosen by our patients for oral surgery and implantology.

How should I prepare for a combined prosthesis?

You need to make an appointment for a personal consultation so that we can offer you our transfer service. If you already have a panoramic X-ray or treatment plan from another practice, please bring it with you. Also state any medication you take regularly. We need this information.

Do I need an X-ray or CT scan?

To get a complete picture of the problem, a panoramic X-ray is required, and less frequently, usually during a maxillofacial surgery consultation, we need to perform a 3D CT scan.

How much will the treatment cost?

The cost of treatment is influenced by a number of factors, including the type and complexity of the treatment. After your consultation, you will receive a detailed and written cost estimate from us, which includes a significant savings potential.

Does my health insurance cover the costs of a combined prosthesis?

If you have a contract with an insurance company, you will be reimbursed for all or part of the value of your dentures.  The amount that is reimbursed depends mainly on the type of insurance you have. Your treatment plan is sent to the insurance company for approval, the insurance company approves the submitted treatment plan, the dental treatment included in the treatment plan is carried out and we prepare all the documents that need to be submitted to the insurance company at the end of the treatment.

What treatment options are there for me?

After the examination, we will inform you about the most suitable treatment options for you, but you should know that we offer all treatments except paediatric dentistry in our well-equipped 5DENT dental clinic. Our excellent dentists will help you with this.

How long does it take to recover after the procedure?

It depends on the type of treatment. Some treatments allow you to return to your daily activities immediately after treatment, while others require rest or a low-impact lifestyle.

When can I eat again after the procedure?

It depends on the type and complexity of the procedure. For some simple procedures you can eat immediately after the anaesthetic wears off, while for others you need to be careful and avoid certain foods. This will be explained to you in more detail during your personal consultation.

Will there be any swelling or discolouration after the procedure?

You may experience slight swelling or discolouration after certain procedures. In any case, you will be informed about what to expect and how to deal with these symptoms.

What guarantees are offered for the treatment?

The effectiveness and durability of treatments depend on many factors, including your general health and oral hygiene habits. Specific guarantees will be given during your consultation.

Do you want your chewing ability and sophisticated appearance to be problem-free and you have no restrictions when eating and speaking? Today, combined dentures offer one of the most innovative and reliable solutions for certain dental problems.
